Title:
Remote AI / RPA Engineer
Job Type:
Permanent
Location:
100% Remote
Description:
Alltech, Inc. is seeking a 100% Remote AI / RPA Engineer for a permanent position with a client.

This is a remote position but will require occasional travel. In addition, you must live in one of the following states: Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, or Washington, DC.

OVERVIEW
The AI / RPA Engineer will be hands-on and design, develop, and operate the AI agents and automation that run inside the client's day-to-day operations. This position touches three major areas; agent development (LLM-powered tools that take action, not just answer questions), robotic process automation (eliminating manual handoffs across systems that don't natively integrate), and platform operations (running the enterprise AI stack itself — Claude, Azure OpenAI, governance, cost, and access).

The AI / RPA Engineer will work directly with the CIO and the client’s clinical, HR, and operations leaders to identify high-leverage automation opportunities, ship them, and own them in production. The role is intentionally broad — the client is building rather than buying, and the person in this seat will have an outsized influence on what we build, how we build it, and what "good" looks like for AI inside a regulated care environment.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
AI Agent Development
• Design and build agentic workflows using Claude, the Anthropic API, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to automate work currently done manually across the clients’ clinical, HR, compliance, and operational teams.
• Develop tool-use integrations that connect AI agents to the client’s data platforms — Microsoft Fabric, Cosmos DB, Power BI semantic models, EHR partner data, and line-of-business systems via Azure Functions.
• Build domain-specific copilots embedded inside the client’s signal (operations, HR staffing, incident management, audit, discharge risk) — agents that reason over client-specific data with permission-scoped access.
• Implement evaluation harnesses so every agent ships with measurable quality gates: accuracy, hallucination rate, refusal behavior, cost per task, and end-to-end latency.
• Apply responsible-AI practices appropriate to a regulated care environment — PHI handling, audit logging of model interactions, prompt hardening, and human-in-the-loop design for clinical or compliance-adjacent outputs.

Robotic Process Automation
• Identify and prioritize automation candidates by partnering with operations, HR, billing, and clinical leadership to map manual workflows and quantify time savings.
• Build and maintain RPA bots using Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, Python automation, and browser-based agents to bridge systems without native APIs — including EHR partner portals, state regulatory portals, and Dayforce.
• Pair traditional RPA with AI to handle unstructured inputs: extracting fields from PDFs, normalizing free-text notes, classifying incidents, and reading scanned documents.
• Operate the bot fleet with monitoring, alerting, retry logic, and a clear runbook for each automation in production.

Enterprise AI Platform Operations
• Operate the client's enterprise AI tooling — Claude (Team/Enterprise), Anthropic API, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, and partner AI tools — including provisioning, access reviews, usage analytics, and cost optimization.
• Manage prompts, skills, and connectors as versioned, reviewable assets — not one-off chat messages. Maintain a shared library of skills and reference workflows for the rest of the organization.
• Drive responsible AI adoption by writing internal documentation, training, and guardrails that let non-technical staff get value from Claude and Copilot safely.
• Track AI spend and ROI across initiatives, models, and use cases. Surface what is working, what is not, and where to reinvest.

Engineering and Delivery
• Ship production code into the client's standard Azure deployment pattern: Static Web Apps, Azure Functions (Node 20), Cosmos DB, Key Vault with managed identity, Entra ID SSO and RBAC, and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• Contribute to the Client’s Signal and adjacent internal applications as a full-stack contributor when AI features need to be embedded directly into user-facing workflows.
• Document everything — architecture decisions, runbooks, prompts, evals, and skills — so that work is durable and reviewable, not locked inside one person's head.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience: 2-3 years building software, automation, or data products in a professional setting. At least 1 year of hands-on work with modern LLMs (Claude, GPT-4 class, or equivalent) in production or near-production contexts.
• LLM and agent development: Demonstrated ability to design prompts, build tool-use / function-calling integrations, implement retrieval, and evaluate model outputs. Comfort with the Anthropic API, OpenAI API or both.
• Programming: Strong in Python and JavaScript / TypeScript. Comfortable working in Node.js, async patterns, REST and JSON, and reading other people's code.
• Cloud: Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure — Functions, Static Web Apps, Key Vault, Entra ID, and at least one Azure data service (Cosmos DB, Fabric, SQL, or Storage).
• RPA and integration: Hands-on experience with at least one RPA or workflow platform (Power Automate, Logic Apps, n8n, UiPath, or similar) and with HTTP API integration generally.
• Engineering discipline: Git, code review, basic CI/CD, environment management, and a habit of writing things down.
• Communication: Able to talk with a clinical director, an operations VP, and a software engineer in the same week and adapt your language to each.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Model Context Protocol (MCP): Experience building or operating MCP servers or integrating MCP clients into agentic workflows.
• Healthcare or human services: Prior work in IDD, behavioral health, long-term care, or any HIPAA-regulated domain — particularly around EHRs, incident reporting, or compliance reporting.
• Microsoft Fabric and Power BI: Familiarity with Fabric Lakehouse, the SQL analytics endpoint, semantic models, DAX, and the Power BI REST API.
• Data engineering: Comfort building parameterized SQL, lightweight ETL, and data quality checks against a lakehouse or warehouse.
• Frontend: React experience sufficient to embed AI capabilities into existing apps (React on Static Web Apps).
• Eval and observability tooling: Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks, tracing, and cost monitoring tooling.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent professional experience.

Other Requirements:
• Background Check
• Physical that will include a drug screen and TB test
