A client in the Tampa Bay, Florida area is seeking a Manager of Software Development for a permanent position. Hybrid Work Schedule is available for this role.

This Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development and support of the client’s software systems. This will include a rebuild to accommodate a new business model that will allow for rapid growth. They will lead a team in the design, development, troubleshooting and optimizing of all software applications. Software development is done by off-shore resources, with some done on-shore.

• Manage the technical activities of a software development team engaged in software applications development and application enhancements and new products; this includes architecture/design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance
• Establish goals and objectives for the department based on the organization’s strategic goals
• Contribute to the strategic technical directions, planning, organizing, resource allocation, development goals, standards and processes
• Lead the development of software applications for the full software development lifecycle, including secure coding practices
• Report on team’s organizational, project and individual metrics; assist in collecting and presenting metrics
• Work with cross functional groups to gather and define product requirements, specifications, and establish development launch schedules
• Selection and hiring of qualified staff, ensuring an effective on-boarding, and providing training and feedback
• Provide technical mentoring/coaching to junior staff members
• Advise on software strategy and continuous improvement efforts
• Assist external auditors, regulatory auditors and other 3rd parties as needed
• Evaluate third-party tools and technologies which support the software development effort
• Daily monitoring and support of system operations
• Keep stakeholders informed on the progress being made with integrations

Required skills:
• Experience managing software developers, software development and web technologies
• Experience with .NET web application architecture, design and development
• Proven leadership skills
• Ability to provide occasional hands-on assistance as needed to support the development teams using some of the following technologies: service oriented architecture (REST/SOAP Web Services/WCF), database design (SQL Server) and unit testing frameworks
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Practical understanding of every aspect of the software lifecycle

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Informational Technology, Management Information Systems or related field is required, a Master’s Degree is preferred
